About Dushyanth Jonnala

Second Officer | Navigational Watchkeeper | Maritime Safety & Compliance I’m a dedicated and disciplined Merchant Navy Officer, currently serving as a Second Officer with CMA CGM. With over 30+ months of sea-time as Officer of the Watch (OOW), I specialize in voyage planning, safe navigation, collision avoidance, and bridge operations, always ensuring strict compliance with IMO, SOLAS, and MARPOL regulations. Throughout my career, I’ve built a strong foundation in bridge team leadership, real-time decision-making, and cross-departmental coordination onboard various vessel types. I hold certifications in Bridge Team Management, ECDIS, Ship Security Officer duties, Advanced Fire Fighting, and Medical Care and I bring a safety-first mindset to every aspect of my work. What sets me apart is my conscientious approach and deep respect for structure, discipline, and responsibility. I take pride in doing things correctly, thoroughly, and on time. My work ethic is rooted in careful planning, double-checking decisions, and following through especially in high-stakes environments where precision matters. I’m naturally reserved and modest, but confident when working within my area of expertise. I prefer clear, factual communication and am always open to learning from experts, written standards, or evidence-based best practices. While I value proven methods, I embrace change when it’s clearly more effective and I implement it with caution and care.
