About Dwayne Godwin

Neuroscientist with extensive experience in studies of synaptic pharmacology of the brain, with additional emphasis on regulation of voltage gated ion channels. Translational interests include the physiological basis and neuroimaging of brain injury, alcohol abuse, epilepsy and seizure, Alzheimer's and PTSD. Experience creating, developing and administering programs at the interface between science, technology and business. Experience creating and directing professional development and training programs for scientists. Experience consulting with the pharmaceutical industry on preclinical drug development. And, for the past few years I've collaborated with cartoonist Jorge Cham to produce a regular comic strip about the brain for Scientific American Mind. Specialties: Basic and translational neuroscience research, pharmacology, neuroimaging, neural networks, epilepsy, cognition, neuroscience education and outreach, grant and manuscript writing and reviewing, multiple NIH grant awardee.
