About Dwayne Kirk

Dwayne is a Defence industry specialist with responsibility for investing $170 million in defence industry over the next 4 years. After 20 years in high-tech commercialisation, business management and manufacturing, Dwayne returned to the Defence sector in 2016 as a Defence Business Adviser. He was Director for Advisory Services within the Centre for Defence Industry Capability prior to his current role as Director of Industry Grants. Utilising his technical and commercial acumen, Dwayne has worked with Universities, start-up companies, SME's and multinational corporations in the assessment, development and commercialisation of new products in fields including biotechnology, micro/nanotechnology, medical imaging, additive manufacturing and defence products. Dwayne holds degrees in Science and in Management, a Doctorate in Commercialisation with minors in Law and Business and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Dwayne is a former officer of the Royal Australian Navy, has founded several successful businesses in diverse commercial areas and is an experienced company director in the private and not-for-profit sectors.
