About Dylan Bateman

I am interested in stories and in sharing information so that it can reach and resonate with its intended audience. With extensive reading, research, and writing experience, I approach projects and jobs with an open-ended process where form and content work together. I have a PhD in English from UBC, and I live and work on the unceded, ancestral, traditional, and ongoing territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I am a white genderqueer/non-binary person who is committed to anti-colonial and anti-racist work and politics, which I have performed in a variety of workplace settings. I have experience tutoring, teaching, and proofreading, and am adept with Microsoft Office, Zoom, Asana, Google MyMaps, Miro, and other software. In past positions, I have worked autonomously and in team settings. In my spare time, I enjoy activities and sport. These include ultimate frisbee, ping pong, biking, board games, and brain puzzles. The team building and thought processes that go into these activities have proven useful in workplace settings, as they offer different ways to think through and solve problems.
