About Dylan Berning

My name is Dylan Berning. I am an Iowa native and former collegiate athlete at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. I grew up building log homes for the family business where I learned the values of hard work, while crafting a work ethic that would sustain me for years to come. At eighteen years old I moved to Colorado where I began my journey as an outdoor guide. I spent the next decade guiding everything from whitewater rafting and fly-fishing to archery hunting and wilderness pack trips. During this time, I developed outstanding people skills through my constant interaction will clients and performed high level problem solving in nonideal situations. Through these tip-based occupations I learned the art of self-promotion, often earning double or triple the income of colleagues. In my mid-twenties I went back to school at Colorado Mountain College where I obtained an associate of science degree in chemistry, whilst working full-time as a bartender developing more people skills and learning about sales. After just one year, I finished a degree, and was promoted from bartender to manager. I used my extra income to pay for my degree completely out of pocket. Currently, I reside in Gunnison, Colorado where I recently finished a clinical biology degree at Western Colorado University. I am a research volunteer in the high-altitude physiology laboratory, and I am paid by the university to be a supplement instructor for freshman biology. Throughout my life I have always taken challenges head on. I am an excellent problem solver who can be put into any situation and flourish.
