About Dylan Birks

Starting as a volunteer in 2019 I began coaching with The iCue academy on the Isle of Man. As I gained more experience it turned into a paid position where I would lead groups of children aged between 2-13. In session that focused on different topics throughout the school year. In November 2021 I applied and was accepted to spend the summer of 2022 in America coaching summer football camps for children with challenger sports. I travelled to 3 different regions of the country coaching and directing camps either as the only coach or with other coaches. There was a different focus each day and because I was director I had to keep everything organized and make sure it ran smoothly while also coaching my own group. On top of this I applied to stay out into the fall season and help out with a local team. I was accepted to this and spent the first few weeks of the season mentoring volunteer parent coaches and giving them useful practices and tips they can use going forward. I recently finished a level 3 sports qualification at my local college and am taking some time to hopefully gain some experience. In the future I am considering going to university to study sports coaching or something similar as I feel it would help me with my career goals of being a coach full time at a high professional level. I would also like to achieve my level 2 coaching qualification in the near future and use that to help me gain more experience as well as further my knowledge about coaching and the sport. Long term I would like to progress onto my UEFA B qualification and beyond. My dream job is to be coach or a manager at a high level professional first team. I would also like to work in an academy setup with a view of working up to the first team as I feel like it could give me good experience on how professional clubs are run and what they look like.
