I am a thoughtful and pragmatic software engineer that thrives in a collaborative environment. I’m passionate about ensuring that my team and I are working to solve the right problems, and that we are doing the highest quality work we can given the context. This always involves tradeoffs and tough decisions, so I always do my part to ensure effective communication of the goals. I’m passionate about building and supporting a positive team culture. To me, this means fostering an environment where everyone feels heard and is making a contribution. I have a knack for quickly understanding complex systems and an ability to break these systems down into smaller pieces. I believe that complex software which emerges from combinations of these pieces is flexible, maintainable and reliable. I have worked on many cloud-native full-stack solutions, deployed to either AWS or GCP and utilising Python and Javascript. I have extensive experience with relational databases including schema design and performance tuning (PostgreSQL). I have strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and software design (SOLID).
