About Dylan Drake

I am a second-year Business Administration student at West Valley College with a strong interest in accounting and a clear goal of earning my CPA license. What started as a need for more structure and organization in my life has evolved into a genuine passion for understanding how financial information informs smarter business decisions. This past semester, I completed Managerial Accounting, where I gained hands-on experience with concepts used to evaluate business performance. We learned how to calculate key figures like breakeven point, contribution margin, and degree of operating leverage. We broke down the components of a master budget, studied cost behaviors, and created a simple product to calculate its unit cost and selling price. We also examined job order, process, and activity-based costing systems, and how they apply in real-world settings. Now, I’m preparing to transfer to a four-year university this winter to continue working toward my bachelor’s degree. I’m excited to keep challenging myself, deepen my knowledge, and apply what I’ve learned in a professional setting. I’m especially interested in opportunities where I can contribute to a team, gain real-world experience, and continue growing into a well-rounded and confident accounting professional.
