Background
About Dylan Jones
I am a current Logistics Specialist in the United States Navy working at an Aviation Supply Depot. I will be looking for a job in the Logistics Industry in December of 2023 when I leave active duty. I am currently responsible for the Inventory Management of over 2,500 Aircraft Repairable parts valued at $155,064,193 for P8 aircraft and directly supervise a team of 10 sailors at my command. Prior to my current position, I was responsible for the Inventory Management of over 500 Aircraft Consumable parts valued at $47,316. In addition to Inventory Manager at ASD, I am in charge of the training, qualification and supervision of newly checked in sailors. Previous to my current command, I was stationed onboard the USS Nimitz for 5 years where I worked in Material Control, managing an Aviation Supply Storeroom. During this time I was responsible for managing an Inventory of over Repairable and Consumable parts valued at over $620,256,772 for Fixed-Wing aircrafts such as F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, E-2D Hawkeye, C-2A Greyhound and Rotary-Wing aircrafts MH-60S Knighthawk and MH-60R Seahawk. While In Material Control, I also directly supervised a team of 8 sailors and was responsible for the training and qualification of that team. Apart from Inventory Management, I was also responsible for the receiving and shipment of parts and supplies on board, customer interactions, customer service, order placement and fulfillment, storeroom and warehouse management and transportation management. The skills I've gained during my 8 years and 5 months as a Logistics Specialist include Consistent Effective Communication, Unique Problem Solving, Constant Process Improvement, Proper Delegation, Giving & Receiving Feedback, High Priority Conflict Resolution, Impeccable Organization and Highly Dedicated Motivation. Not only are these Skills I've gained, but I also apply daily to various projects saving the navy both time and money. One example would be consistently researching parts prior to being ordered for the possibility of obtaining a more cost efficient option, whether that be through mode of shipment or the part itself. Logistics is the movement of materials through an organization from start to finish, and I take pride in the ability to confidently and effectively oversee that process.
