In 2022 I acquired a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and a minor in financial mathematics from Wilfrid Laurier University.In my time at university, I participated in Laurier's competitive co-op program. I worked as a financial analyst at Data Communications Management and then as an operations analyst at Wolters Kluwer. In both positions I would create, edit, and run reports from Microsoft D365, Power BI, or Salesforce. I would then use Excel to manipulate and present the data sets exported from those reports. From there I would make conclusions based on the data I saw (whether it be CRM, POS, or other data) and present my findings to the appropriate team (either via email or video call). The most valuable skill I gained from these 2 co-op positions was efficiency in data manipulation. When I get something into Excel, I can always find a way to do what I want to (it might take an internet search for some tasks, but I'll always get there in a reasonable amount of time).In my time at Home Hardware I was responsible for item and line review analysis within the Core Plumbing Department. I would use similar methods as in my co-op terms to extract and analyze POS, logistics, and warehouse inventory data. I would communicate my findings to management for further discussion. The outcome of these discussions would form the basis for communication to stores (communications would include amendments to current line reviews, explanations of inventory and supply situations by category or by SKU, and etcetera). One of the key takeaways from my time at Home Hardware is how important communication between different departments is for meeting targets and meeting long-term corporate goals.
