About Dylan Lopez

What is your dream job? The timeless question that we have all encountered in every stage of our life. The answer for me has always stayed the same - a job where I could build something meaningful and be proud of it’s contributions. Initially, I thought that I would acquire such dream job through Life Sciences but after befriending and living with Software Engineers, I quickly recognized the power and the potential of software development. Curiosity led me to sit in on countless Software Engineering classes at Ontario Tech University (previously known as UOIT). From Object Oriented Programming and Design on Tuesdays to Web Programming on Fridays, I eagerly attended between my required courses. After graduating Life Sciences, I went on to complete Durham College’s Computer Programming program. I quickly realized that full stack web development checks off all the boxes of what I would consider to be a dream job and it calls to all of my passions; it incorporates problem solving, creativity and enables me to build something that I could proudly stand by. My specialties include quickly learning new skills, programming languages and frameworks, problem solving, and working efficiently and building relationships within a team. I have a deep understanding of the Model View Controller (MVC) and Model Template View (MTV) methods of organizing code along with Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Linux, Git and Django. I have exposure and am familiar with.NET, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, PHP and COBOL and I am currently learning and practicing with React.js and GraphQL.
