About Dylan Shurts

Mission-driven nonprofit and museum professional with 6+ years of experience in development, donor stewardship, community engagement, and visitor experience. I currently serve as Development Associate at the GLBT Historical Society Museum in San Francisco, supporting donor relations, fundraising operations, and community-centered engagement for one of the nation’s leading LGBTQ+ historical institutions. I bring a cross-sector background that spans museums, education, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. I’m completing my M.A. in Museum Studies at Johns Hopkins University (December 2025), with a concentration in development and public engagement, and will hold a grant writing certification by the end of summer 2025. My work is rooted in building inclusive programming, strengthening donor relationships, and advancing DEI-centered fundraising strategies. I’m passionate about connecting people to culture, science, and public history through accessible, meaningful, and community-driven experiences.
