About Dylan Simpson

Ever since I began volunteering with my high school's IT department, technology has been my passion. I still remember the first assignment given to me; Clearing desktop computers of dust buildup. While not the most compelling of jobs, I completed it to a professional standard. After vanquishing dust from old computers, I quickly moved onto getting paid for my work at high school. Finding myself trusted with larger projects, such as; Repairing school laptops, creating and deploying images for school devices, and carrying out test and tagging on electrical appliances. When both of the IT staff left to establish their own business together, I continued to work with them. I gained experience installing and configuring security cameras and VOIP phones, and even entire computer labs. There were also times that I helped complete fix numerous tech issues that would arise at the schools the business managed. All of this experience lead me far away from home to Wellington to study at Victoria University. During my studies, I have found that I not only hold a passion for the more hands-on work involved with IT, but also for programming and cyber-security. However, I've not been content to only learn at Victoria. I've been sure to take advantage of any opportunities that come my way. Working as a tutor and representing all Engineering and Computer Science students as their faculty representative are my two most notable pursuits so far. Skills: Java, C&C ++, Hardware and Software Installation, Hardware Repair, Test and Tag, Customer Support. Interests: Project Management, Cyber Security. Academic: Java and C++ fundamentals, Algorithms and Data Structures (A*, Dijkstra), Compression Techniques (Lempel Ziv, Huffman Encoding), Neural Networks, Finite State Machines, Autonomous Vehicles (Robot), Solar Tracking (Small Scale Project) language Parser.
