Spring 2015 I graduated Thompson Rivers University with my Bachelors of Natural Resource Science. During this time, I completed two summer work terms with Landmark Solutions as a Jr. Forestry Engineer and West Fraser as a Jr Silviculturist. In early spring of 2016 I moved into an Operational Forester position for Skeena Sawmills in Terrace BC. This diverse and challenging roll quickly allowed opportunities to take on more responsibility. This in turn built upon management skills through supervision of harvesting progress/road and bridge construction and inspections, harvest inspections, log quality and tracking of operational inventory. I was also appointed the Lead Safety Personnel for the Woodlands sector. February of 2017 I was tasked with the responsibility to implement SFI and PEFC forestry standards to expand Skeena Sawmills operations to the changing markets and establish a Pellet Plant. During this time, I also completed a grant proposal for a CT Log Scanner for the mill. These experiences allowed me to grow my professional skill sets, problem solving, and communication skills. Obtaining the Global Certification of SFI and PEFC (achieved October 2017) is still a top accomplishment in my career that I am extremely proud of. October 2017 I accepted a position as an Assistant Forester (FIT) at Chartwell Resource Group. Over the past five years I have greatly built upon my Forest Engineering skills (road and cutblock), timber assessments, Timber Cruising, Silviculture, Site Plan knowledge, project management, professional writing, and critical problem solving. A large part of what I do at Chartwell is Site Plan data collection and Management Plan deliverables. I run a medium to large scale project for a Licensee in Lillooet which has allowed my skillset to greatly expand and develop as well. Over the course of the past couple years my scope of work has also expanded. I have had project management experience in large scale projects like Trans Mountain Expansion Project, BC Hydro, and Environmental Monitoring for our Biology department. As of January 2023 I obtained my Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation. I have grown immensely as an individual and as a professional in the course of my career. With obtaining my RPF I am very excited to see where I will be able to grow into.
