About E. Ramsay Camp

I am a board-certified surgical oncologist, academic leader, and physician-scientist dedicated to advancing care for patients with complex gastrointestinal cancers—particularly pancreatic and gastric malignancies. As Professor and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine and Executive Surgical Director of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, I lead a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering innovative cancer care, education, and translational research. My NIH-funded research program focuses on personalizing chemo-immunotherapy strategies for pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer. We explore key drivers of treatment resistance and cancer disparities by integrating tumor immunology, spatial biology, and biomarker discovery. Our lab utilizes cutting-edge platforms including image mass cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, patient-derived tumor organoids (PDTO), xenografts (PDX), and humanized mouse models. Currently, I serve as principal investigator on a first-of-its-kind, investigator-initiated trial—supported by Merck—exploring a novel neoadjuvant chemo-immunotherapy regimen for pancreatic cancer. With over two decades of experience in academic medicine, I am committed to advancing precision cancer care, mentoring future surgical leaders, and accelerating translational discoveries from bench to bedside.
