About Eamonn Ahearne

I am a Lecturer and Researcher in the UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering with knowledge and expertise in the fields of project management, management and manufacturing engineering. Before joining academia, I acquired extensive experience in management of R&D in multinational companies; in particular in the automotive sector. My PhD, subsequent research and publications in academia, have focused on understanding and modelling the fundamental mechanisms in manufacturing processes such as in cutting, grinding and polishing of advanced materials. I have collaborated with many high end multinational companies in Ireland and the EU to understand and improve their manufacturing processes and systems. As a lecturer, I am committed to communicating the importance and excitement of engineering to students and promoting critical and analytical thinking.
