About Eamonn McCallion

Eamonn is a Partner in EY Ireland and leads the Financial Services Indirect Tax practice. With over 20 years experience in Indirect Tax in both industry and practice, Eamonn provides advice across all financial services sectors and on Life Sciences. Prior to joining EY, Eamonn spent almost 4 years in a leadership role establishing an Irish hub entity for a US multinational with a large global footprint where he was Global Head of Indirect Tax. Prior to this, he spent 17 years in another Big 4 practice specialising in VAT. He also served as Head of Legal for a Big 4 practice. He is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Adviser and a Solicitor. Eamonn holds degrees in law from University College Cork and diplomas in Corporate Law & Governance and in Employment Law from the Law Society of Ireland. Previously Eamonn established a Global Indirect Tax team in a listed life sciences company and leverages this industry experience by advising life sciences companies. Eamonn has extensive global tax controversy and litigation experience gained from running tax litigation all over the world. During his time in industry, Eamonn was heavily involved in Tax Technology Transformation identifying VAT process shortcomings (such as ERP and data quality deficiencies) and rectifying those shortcomings through improvements to the end to end tax process and through implementing tax technology.
