About Earle Barnes
Starting as a lab assistant at Tampa General Hospital back in 1989 while enrolled at the University of South Florida helped to lay the foundation for my career. Working for SCC Soft Computer helped to combine a love of the medical laboratory and information technology, while becoming proficient in UNIX, the understanding of HL7 interface language, as well as an extensive use of Microsoft Office applications. In securing a position with the prestigious National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, I began a new career with the Laboratory of Pathology working directly with the staff on various information technology challenges. As a computer specialist and LIS administrator, I work with the system users in many aspects of their daily routines related to use of the LIS as well as with many other ancillary system administrators that are integral parts of all IT operations at the NIH.
