About Ebony Henderson

My teaching philosophy is centered on the student. I believe that each child is unique, with their own learning style and set of needs and gifts that they bring to the classroom. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand on their skills and abilities and create an atmosphere that nurtures maximum learning while meeting each child's individual needs. Having said that, learning should still be enjoyable and engaging. As a teacher, I believe it is critical to use a variety of teaching strategies and technology to reach a wide range of learners. Through cooperative learning, students should be encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations, practice language structure, learn from one another, and learn to work together. Students should be active learners who investigate concepts through hands-on learning. Students should also learn to apply those concept at higher levels of thinking. I believe that in order for students to learn, the classroom must be a safe and comfortable environment, and that students should be held to high but attainable standards. Each child desires to be challenged to reach their full potential and to believe that their teacher cares about them. It is my responsibility as a teacher to create such an environment. I believe that every child should have the belief that they can succeed, and it is my responsibility to make a positive difference in their lives.
