Dr. Ebru Emsen is a prominent professor in Animal Science since 2011 and a founding partner of ERGEN R&D company since 2008. ERGEN's mission revolves around fostering the growth of small ruminant start-ups through innovative strategies such as assisted reproduction technology, and smart farming. Holder of a prestigious research fellowship at the Ohio State University, she also earned a notable scholarship at the Japan International Cooperation Centre, enriching her knowledge in Reproductive Biotechnologies. Her passion for continuous learning is evident in her participation in advanced ART courses in Canada and Italy. Dr. Emsen has an impressive academic record, with over 100 research publications and successful leadership in more than 30 research projects. Her work primarily addresses animal welfare, genetic improvement, precision livestock management, and value-added food products from sheep and goats. She has made significant strides in the industry, notably establishing the first sheep breed organization group in Turkey and innovating a synthetic prolific dam line. Her impact is substantial, potentially increasing meat production in areas like Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the Caucasians. Dr. Emsen ensures her research outcomes extend beyond the confines of the lab as an active contributor in national and global networks. Her leadership of the Horizon 2020 funded iSAGE project is a testament to her unwavering dedication towards a sustainable sheep and goat sector. ERGEN, under her fine guidance, is recognized as a World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) Candidate, demonstrating a firm commitment to economically marginalized producers. Additionally, as an Industry Representative of the Sheep and Goat Commission - European Federation of Animal Science, she fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange enhancing the progress of sheep and goat science. She joined the Animal Welfare Research Network Co-Ordinating Group as the Technology Integration Officer for Animal Welfare, where she focuses on integrating cutting-edge technology to enhance animal welfare standards and practices.
