About Ed Danter

Retired after nearly 42 years with IBM developing and maintaining systems, and a member of their corporate audit staff and business controls organizations involved with Sarbanes Oxley and SAS70 audits, with extensive teaching of application systems control and auditability. Published a book titled "IT Governance: The Only Thing Worse Than no Control is the Illusion of Control". After leaving IBM went to work as an adjunct professor at Kean University teaching classes titled "Auditing Information Systems" and "Auditing Financial Statments"' Currently looking at other teaching opportunities either as adjunct or full time professor. I also started my own company in 2016, IAE (Internal Audit Education), where I offer services in educating management and executives in either establishing an internal audit department or in preparing them to be "audit ready", avoiding the illusion of control. The interactive role playing (students take turns simulating both auditor and auditee activities) has been well received and very successful in the educational process, providing motivation and stimulating interest and enhancing their understanding of auditing challenges. Having taught new auditors at IBM using role playing as well as at Kean University, I have realized that this approach would be very appropriate and beneficial in the business world and look forward to future opportunities to establish and facilitate mock audit role playing within corporate management structures.
