About Ed Donelan

As the General Manager/Facility Manager of MRDC Operations Corporation, I oversee the operations and maintenance of the Fredericton-Moncton Highway, a toll road that connects two major cities in New Brunswick. With more than 20 years of experience in civil engineering and construction, I have the skills and knowledge to ensure the quality and safety of the highway, and to manage the financial and contractual aspects of the project. I am responsible for delivering the rehabilitation program that will renew the entire highway by 2028, with a budget of over $150M and a scope of tonnes of paving. I work closely with the client, New Brunswick Highway Corporation, and the shareholders, FCC Construction, ACS, Vinci Concessions, and Miller (Colas), to meet the contract requirements and address any issues. I also manage a staff of 50 and coordinate with consultants and contractors to execute the projects efficiently and effectively. Prior to joining MRDC Operations in 2019, I was the General Manager of Gulf Operators Ltd, a civil construction and aggregate production company that grew significantly under my leadership. I was involved in strategic planning, business development, contract negotiations, talent management, and performance management. I was also part of the Port City Water Partners team, which delivered the Safe Clean Drinking Water Project for the City of Saint John under the P3 model. My mission is to provide high-quality infrastructure and services that benefit the communities and the environment. I am passionate about applying lean and six sigma principles to improve the processes and outcomes of the projects I manage. I am also motivated by the challenges and opportunities that come with managing complex and large-scale projects that require collaboration and innovation.
