About Ed Palmer

I am currently the Operations Commanding Officer at USC Department of Public Safety. This includes patrol, detectives, threat assessment for the department, crisis intervention and liaising with various connect entities within the university to a common goal. Prior to coming to USC, I spent nearly 29 years with the Los Angeles Police Department. I worked a variety of assignments including Training Officer, Senior Lead Officer, Gangs, Vice, DARE, Recruitment, Employee Relations and Training Division. I retired as a lieutenant and OIC of OMBUDS and Employee Assistance. I have a BS in Criminal Justice Management and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from USC. I serve as an instructor at the LAPD Academy for in-service training and at Rio Hondo Police Academy as a instructor. I also serve as a mediator for police community conflicts for the City of Los Angeles.
