I’m a 30+ year entrepreneur and cleantech CEO focused on the Water-Energy-Agriculture Nexus. These interconnected and interdependent systems impact planet and human health, sustainability, and climate change. I like bold ventures focused on big impacts, working with other entrepreneurs, and developing the next generation of cleantech leaders. I founded Aquatic Informatics (AQI) in 2003 and grew it to be one of the world’s largest water data management and analytics company. AQI's software continues to be used in more than 60 countries for monitoring water quantity (droughts and floods), water quality (environmental, municipal, industrial), and climatic conditions. In 2017, I partnered with a XPV Water Partners to accelerate growth through acquisitions and together in 2020 we sold AQI to Danaher, a US$30B revenue publicly traded company. At Danaher, I continued as President of AQI for 2 years, embracing the Kaizen philosophy and Danaher Business Systems. Since 2022 I have joined a few more Boards, invested in early stage companies, and was Interim CEO (6-months) at Semios Technologies, a high-growth ~$1B valuation AgTech company, while we searched for a new CEO. In 2023, I took on Chair of Cascadia Seaweed, the West Coast's largest producer of seaweed extracts and biostimulants. Cascadia is part of a broader movement toward using seaweed as a solution for global challenges, including sustainable food production, climate change mitigation, and creating circular economies. In January 2024, I jumped back into the CEO role, leading Mobiltex, a Calgary based tech company focused on water and energy. Mobiltex specializes in remote monitoring, analytics, and control solutions for water and gas utilities, reducing methane emissions and water loss. Natural gas is primarily composed of methane, which is ~84 times worse for climate change than carbon dioxide. Water utilities lose upwards of 30% to 50% of their treated drinking water in distribution networks, wasting precious water and the substantial energy required to treat and pump the water.
