About Ed Rickers

This is my 22nd year of being exclusively focused on creating and publishing primary source-based social studies curriculum materials that connect students directly to the humanity of history and herstory. We have been incredibly blessed to recruit amazing teams of former teachers, award-winning artists and writers, video producers, computer programmers, sales professionals and wonderful operations personnel that share our vision to make a difference. As educators and publishers, our goal is to increase awareness. At Studies Weekly we decided a long time ago to emphasize social studies. Why? The point of social studies is awareness. To the extent that we as educators and parents increase the historical, cultural, economical, political, geographical, demographical, and civics awareness of our children, we directly raise the probability that the entire human family will soon live in peace and enjoy unprecedented and sustained prosperity. It’s so important that children gain as much social awareness as possible in their earliest years. Dr. Benjamin Bloom (Bloom’s Taxonomy of Higher Level Thinking) stated that 50% of children’s adult intelligence is formed by age 4 and approximately 80% is formed by age 10. The awareness gained by children in these early years governs what they perceive as important and what's relevant for the rest of their lives. Thank you for your interest and support.
