Background
About Eddie Lanzo
As a UX designer, my aim is to create products that go easy on people. I have a multifaceted background that ultimately led me to UX design and upon which I draw from to help make this happen for users. I completed a mentored UX design immersive that had me learn-by-doing, moving through the entire UX process by developing a responsively designed application. Throughout the intensive, I acquired the skills needed to make products that are usable, useful and user-centric. The app I put together: • Scoured the market of existing solutions • Explored the wants and needs of the user base • Optimized and structured content • Drafted multiple iterations that were tested • Developed into a production ready product My initial jump into design was with physical spaces when I designed and built a 156 square foot “tiny house” in 2014. Since then I have worked for a tiny house company, sharing my expertise with the community in workshops nationwide. Learning to downsize, simplify and deal with constraints have all been valuable lessons moving forward in the digital realm. In 2015 I started working in a IT role talking to real users at the service desk and getting familiar with real struggles they had concerning their corporate mobile devices. This served as an ideal precursor to my move to UX design as I was able to identify patterns of frustrations users voiced about their mobile devices and programs. Earlier on I spent 7 years in the property management and real estate sector. During this time I became a supervisor of a team involved with the stewardship of foreclosed homes and vacant properties. I also served the Austin area as a real estate agent, primarily on the buyer’s side and with renters. Customer service, sales and marketing were all vital with the industry and contribute to my UX design mindset today to make products that are profitable for business and a simple joy for users.
