Good psychotherapists don’t make you feel better; They help you feel more” – Ed Bonner I am self employed as a psychotherapist and have over 25 years of experience working in the mental health field. I approach psychotherapy from an existential-integrative perspective and utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques. My choice of intervention is based on both the specific concerns of my clients as well as their distinct personal attributes. I work with clients on a variety of issues including; depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, panic attacks, substance use disorders, a variety of other diagnostic categories. Although I understand the importance of understanding the crisis/problem that brings a client into therapy, I am more concerned about the unique personal qualities of my clients. Successful therapy results when clients access their own intrinsic strengths and tap into their inner resources. This leads not only to amelioration of the concern that brings them to therapy but allows them to experience themselves and their world to its fullest potential. What I love most about my job is that I've been doing it for over 25 years and I have never been bored. That says a lot when you consider I tend to have the attention span of a – oh look a Camaro, what was I saying; you get the picture. In all seriousness, I truly am fascinated at the process of bearing witness to personal transformation that occurs through therapy. I consider it a great honor that clients share their deepest hopes and fears with me and I feel privileged that they allow me to accompany them on their journey toward becoming who they truly are. When I’m not helping clients I am usually enjoying time with my wife and son. I love camping, hiking, travelling, progressive metal music, cooking, science, acting silly, and enjoying…….everything.
