Background

About Edgar Camero

I am a policy practitioner that unpacks policies through an equity lens. Past policies and actions have have done little to create change and have contributed to the inequality gap. I want to create effective policies that lead to positive long-term impacts. Therefore, I will create policies with the community. Any decision or recommendation should be “rooted with the community and committed to the advancement with the community.” The lack of community input in policy decisions is the reason well-intentioned policies often have little to no impact. As a policy-practitioner I will utilize my community-centered ideology to create data-driven policies and tools. I have participated and led research activities including literature reviews, policy scans, focus-groups, survey development and administration. What intrigued me the most about the research process was codifying and analyzing the data. This interest has contributed to my expertise in excel and passion for data. I bring a unique and interdisciplinary lens as a policy practitioner due to my non-linear journey as a policy practitioner. Through these experiences I have learned the importance of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, the importance of community engagement, and the role that data plays in informing policy.
