About Edith Carranza
I have always been interested in structures ranging from skyscrapers to bridges. My curiosity has motivated me to pursue a degree in civil engineering at the University of California, Irvine. Prior to attending UC Irvine, I attended Cerritos College and received my Associates in Mathematics and Associates in Physics. While at Cerritos College, I was able to develop my communication and teamwork skills through participating in NASA's 2021 Micro-g NExT challenge. Through this challenge, our team was tasked to design, test, and manufacture a device to test at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL). It was an incredible experience that allowed me to understand more about the engineering design process and exercise my technical writing skills. A professional society that I am a member of is the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As I embark in my new academic journey at UC Irvine, I am looking forward to growing academically and professionally through hands-on opportunities.
