Background

About Ediz Kirman

Following my graduation in year I had the opportunity to work always at earth-sciences related topics; sedimentology in particular. Positions as ‘researcher, technical personnel and project manager’ in national and international companies, university and state institution (MTA) have contributed to my personal and professional development. During my research assistantship at the university –by the motivation and support from my mentors– trying best to comprehend academic life, has guided me to scientific perspective and improve my research abilities. My introduction to international research teams, being part of multi-national project groups and abroad working experience takes place in this period. Subsequently, working for ‘General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration - MTA’ (Geological Survey of Turkey) has improved my vision by practical applications of economic and strategic aspects of earth-sciences. Last but not least this period contributed to my understanding of bureaucracy and state institutional traditions. Eventually, working for Fugro Turkey - Sial has broadened my horizons by both domestic and international experience in terms of utilization of multi-disciplinary approaches for strategic and prestigious commercial projects. In addition to my occupational and professional activities, I have the concern and ambition of technological implementations of my occupation, such as digital field / office applications. Apart from current experience on software that I already use, I believe that I have the ability to adapt quickly to new programs and systems. Database and interface generation, algorithm creation, modelling, reporting and presentations are subjects that I am confident in. I value innovation and I am in the quest for doing better with new ideas and new methods.
