About Edlyn Tan

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." –Arthur Ashe. I think this quote is suitable for every person, regardless of age, educational background, or expertise. Even though everybody may be at different stages of their career, it is important for us to always strive to be better than what we are now, using our own assets and our own willpower. As a student, this quote is especially relevant for me as I have to pinpoint my strengths and weaknesses in order for me to make full use of my education. This quote has led me for the past 12 years of my education, as a student leader among my peers. I had the opportunity to lead my school's Netball team for 2 years as the captain in secondary school, and was also appointed as the secretary of the Netball team in junior college. Through these experiences I've had, I'm proud to have been able to contribute to my team and the school. I've also taken part in Service Learning projects with my peers during my education in junior college. As part of a team, we conducted weekly house visits to elderly residing in Tiong Bahru so as to better understand them and communicate better with them. As a student of the Smart-city Management Technology major under Information Systems in SMU, I'm looking for opportunities related to the improvement of our country via technology.
