About Edna Uvalle

Hi, I’m Edna Uvalle, a senior undergraduate student in the Occupational Safety and Health program at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. My previous work experience as a Safety Professional includes roles at several corporations, including a high-rise window washing company and an environmental services organization. During my more than 10+ years’ experience as a Safety Professional, one of my primary responsibilities was delivering safety courses to employees; both in English and in Spanish. It was during this time that I came to realize that this is an area I am very passionate about. I have been able to take that passion and experience and bring it forward as a Research Assistant on two Susan Hardwood Training grants at UHCL, on Excavation and Trenching Safety Training and COVID-19. In addition to my studies at UHCL I served as the Treasurer of the Society of Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professionals student group. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science with specialization in Safety and Industrial Hygiene in December 2021. I have been able to accomplish all this while being the mom to my amazing son Maximo, who is my pride and joy.
