About Edward Diss

Graduate Computer Science student (BSc) with a first and industry internship experience, providing a well-rounded professional skill set. I have a strong set of interpersonal skills acquired through working as part of a team and interacting with customers in a variety of part time jobs. Recently finished a life long dream of designing and building my own home which was an amazing but challenging experience due to the almost complete lack of building experience. This has imparted many valuable life skills such as project management, perseverance, how to tackle (many) new challenges and problem solving. Relevant skills Programming - I have over two years industry experience with.Net, C# and TypeScript. I also excelled in my study of Java, Python, Haskell, Matlab and C/C++ at university which gives me a well-rounded set of languages and has given me a strong logical problem-solving ability to draw from. Project management – I have over two years experience with agile development and some hands on experience with scrum. I have also learnt a lot about how to project manage and break down tasks during my self build. Team work – Through my industry experience I have gained a thorough appreciation for the value and importance of team work. Having a supportive team is crucial to fostering a positive work environment and can lead to greater job satisfaction. If I am able I always strive to make myself available to help others when they need assistance as I know from experience it can make the world of difference. During my previous role I mentored junior members of my team and often helped developers from other teams make the most of the frontend frame work my team was responsible for.
