About Edward Hilser

Several years ago, as I reflected on my career options, I made the decision to obtain my masters degree in school counseling. Communications has always been one of my strengths and that, together with my love of children, and the ability to easily establish rapport with others, has led me down this path. I have a yearning to take on something meaningful and believe that working as a school counselor will be a venue for that. My internship at Mamaroneck High School has validated my choice in a career change. For the past 10 years I have been employed by the same company and believe that I have many readily transferable skills which will enable me to excel on the school counseling pathway. I have excellent interpersonal skills, am highly organized and detail oriented. I work closely with vice presidents of a large corporation and do well in handling highly stressful situations. While I acknowledge that a school setting will be different, I am able to quickly think on my feet and problem solve. I believe this, coupled with an eagerness to work with others, will make school counseling an excellent career fit. I am extremely eager to start working in a school setting.
