About Edward Lyons

My interest in transportation started very early in my childhood; this naturally guided me towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After my MSc, I was fortunate enough to deepen this interest with a research contract at Sapienza University of Rome, where I worked on developing an integrated virtual testing platform for autonomous vehicles, integrating tools like Unreal Engine 5 and Simulink. This project allowed me to explore cutting-edge technologies including state-of-the-art inertial and geolocalization platforms, IR Tracking setups, drone control systems, and real-time target machines. This consolidated my skills in problem-solving and complex systems management, as I was responsible for the communication setups, level designs, and model programming. Today, my passion has led me to my next step at Alstom, where I've begun my new job as a Junior Project Engineering Manager. It's exciting to contribute to one of the leading companies that works every day with railway-related projects. I look forward to combining my technical expertise with a new managerial dimension in an environment where I can learn and grow. When I'm out of the office, you can find me swing dancing across Europe, shooting with my analog camera, or continuing to work on my passion by developing vehicle models with realistic physics along with a driving simulator on the Roblox Studio Platform.
