About Edward MacLean

I have been working in the IT industry in Japan for the last 7 years and have gained expertise in a range of fields from application portfolio management, project management for key IT infrastructure to leading sales proposals and participating in strategic policy coordination and implementation for both domestic and international clients. My recent activities include expanding our customer base as a sales lead and project manager as well as managing strategic partnerships with global firms seeking to expand into Japan while bolstering the service portfolio we provide domestically, allowing for expansion into new areas of opportunity. Primarily working with pharmaceutical and life-science clients with international operations has allowed me to gain experience in coordinating diverse stakeholder groups on an international scale. Notable recent accomplishments include project management for a Windows 10 deployment for a user base of approximately people and from scratch development of a domestic IT support team and its processes for a fast developing client entering the Japanese market. Both cases have required my skills in overseeing local process streamlining, reporting and negotiation with global IT management, stakeholder coordination with risk assessment and resolution responsibilities. My strong bilingual communication skills have enabled to lead presentations and negotiations for new contracts with major clients as well as take on operational responsibilities when required. Through the diverse experiences of operations, sales and strategic planning layered on top of my academic background in International Relations I have developed a unique perspective and skill-set in coordinating and influencing multiple stakeholders across various functions with internal leadership, domestic clients and their international management respectively.
