About Edward Marston

A qualified solicitor for 30+ years, I am now focused mainly on providing support to public and private sector parties engaged in the operation of projects and helping my clients to develop processes and systems for more effective collaboration, greater accountability and positive management. From the early '90s my professional work has concentrated on the privatisation of public assets and services spanning the transfer of transport and local authority services to private operators following de-regulation and compulsory tendering, PFI projects (for the construction and operation of hospitals, schools, government accommodation, defence installations, local authority and custodial facilities) and LIFT schemes. A particular focus has been the development of contractual mechanisms for the accountable provision of FM services. Commissioned into the RMP in 1965, I served in Berlin, Cyprus and London until1973. Legal studies led to admission as a solicitor in 1976 and a career in private practice with Bowles & Co, Epsom (1976-1982), Richard Freeman & Co 1982-85, Marston & Salamons 1985-90, Barnett Alexander Chart Altheimer & Gray Kilpatrick Stockton LLP 2003-2005 and Shadbolt LLP 2005-2009. In 2010 I joined AF Consulting (PFI Support) Limited as owner/director. Specialties: Company and commercial law, private equity transactions, MBO/MEBO/MBI and securitisation. Service provision under PFI contracts in health, education, central/local government accommodation and defence. Financing and structuring of LIFT contracts. Since Jan 2012, advising public and private sector clients in Barbados and the wider Caribbean on structuring, and financing and conventionally procured infrastructure projects.
