About Edward Narayan

Dr Edward Narayan is a Comparative Animal Physiologist specializing in comparative endocrinology, stress physiology, animal health and welfare. Edward manages THE STRESS LAB at the University of Queensland and their research focuses on assessing the hormonal biology of animals across different production systems. Edward is a member for Zoos and Aquarium Association (ZAA) and represents the UQ on the National Animal Welfare (RD & E) Steering Committee (NAWRDE) and Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) Link Scheme. Dr Narayan has been awarded postdoctoral funding through the Australian Academy of Science Australia-India Early Career program. He has established a Conservation Physiology research program in India which provides training to PhD students. Dr Narayan was awarded fellowship through the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation for research on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases using goldfish model. Dr Narayan has prior experience as Lecturer in Veterinary Physiology at Charles Sturt University and as Senior Lecturership in Animal Science at Western Sydney University. Edward currently teaches across zoology/agriculture/animal science undergrad programs and supervise both Masters (MRes/MPhil) and PhD students. Successfully supervised 60 Field Project students, Honours, Masters and PhD students within Australia and internationally. Achieved numerous competitive research grants, published over 90 peer reviewed papers/chapters/books and presented research internationally. At UQ, Dr Narayan lead's the Stress Lab @EdwardStresslab
