About Edward Oblenis

Edward O'Blenis is an Acting Professor with over three decades of professional Acting and Teaching experience. He graduated from the Yale School of Drama with a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Acting and Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He possesses years of contemporary and classical theatre experience and vast expertise in Shakespeare and Chekov. He has performed in and workshopped new and old plays with nearly all of the New York City theatres such as The Roundabout Theater Company, N.Y. Theater Workshop, Manhattan Theater Club, Red Bull Theater, Target Margin, Bedlam, The Drama League, Ma Yi Theatre, The Lark, Abrams Arts Center, The Working Theater, New Dramatists, and others. His unlimited regional credits have transported him all across the United States in theatrical venues such as The Arena Stage in D.C, The Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Delaware Theater, The Westport Playhouse in Connecticut; The Actors Theater of Louisville, Cape Fear Regional Theater, Triad Stage, and Playmakers Rep all in North Carolina; Bay Street Theater in the Hamptons, The Huntington Theatre in Boston and more. On the screen, watch him on Law and Order SVU, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and films like On the Outs, winner of the Slam Dance Film Festival, the Sundance Festival hit, Eden, and the recently released Shirley now on Hulu. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of being directed by Joanne Woodward and appeared alongside Cynthia Nixon, John Turturro, David Blaine, Brooke Shields, TR Knight, Anthony Mackie, Frances McDormand, Elizabeth Moss, and other powerhouse performers. He has years of teaching credits, including holding instructor and guest artist positions at Victoria College of the Arts, N.Y. Film Academy, Contemporary American Theater Festival in West Virginia, Actors Shakespeare Project in Boston, Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C, and a teaching artist at hundreds of NYC Schools while working with Enact LLC, The Theater Development Fund, Smart Arts Academy, and the 52nd Street Project. He is a proud member of Actors Equity, The Screen Actors Guild, The National Alliance of Acting Teachers, MEAA, and The Actors Center in New York City.
