About Edward Pocock

Ed has always been an active member of his local community and strives to “leave the campsite better than he first found it.” It is through this mantra that Ed conducts business when serving the community. Professionally, Ed’s journey in law enforcement began with his early enlistment in the USAF, to joining the Southington Police Department (SPD) in 1989 and after 25 years of honorable service, he retired at the rank of captain, where he commanded Operations (Patrol Division and Detective Bureau). Ed’s volunteer community efforts range a 20-year span from service on the local Board of Education to service on his local Town Council. While on the Board of Education, Ed was a leading proponent of computers in the classroom in an era when these early technology efforts were not popular. His Board of Water Commissioner’s service ushered in a variety of policy changes, which included numerous infrastructure improvements, invigorated maintenance policies, management change and efforts to protect existing sources through intense lobbying efforts. Ed’s service on the Town Council was the highlight of his volunteer service to the Town of Southington, overseeing a 128 million dollar budget and initiating several community efforts, including a successful middle school referendum, economic development initiatives and infrastructure improvements. Ed’s varied experiences and education have allowed him to develop a deep understanding as to the importance of transparency, effective collaboration and the customer service aspect of “protect and serve”. He continues to serve his community as Chairman of the J. Allen Lamb & Edward S. Pocock Foundation.
