About Edward Pullen

I am a retired family but now focus my passion on birding. I've been an avid birder for over 35 years, and am now the creator of The Bird Banter Podcast, where birders talk birding, and where I hope to be an ambassador to the birding community. I used to work as a physician at the Sunrise Medical Campus location of Sound Family Medicine, a 15 FP, 28 provider, 3 location practice in the Puyallup Valley area of E. Pierce County, WA. I have been the physician leader in implementation and development of our use of GE's Centricity EMR. We were on the bleeding edge of use of EMRs, now in our 21st year of EMR use. I have been involved in form development, process improvement, and leveraging our information data base to improve disease management, preventative care, and practice profits. I have started to blog as DrPullen.com in attempt to spread an experienced family physician's viewpoint on medical news and whatever else seems interesting from this FP's viewpoint. In July 2009 I passed off the medical director position at SFM to Marc Aversa MD, one of my younger partners, and to continue to practice family medicine, while exploring opportunities to use my experience in EMR use and implementation, as well as travel more and enjoy life. In 2016 I retired from regular practice and now work infrequently when needed at SFM and preventing at a local residence program.
