Current position as Manager, Product Regulatory for Domtar's Pulp and Paper Division. Focus of work is in developing system for and providing information for responses to customer inquiries related to regulatory issues and providing general support to the business around product regulatory topics. Prior to current position, worked in R&D Department of Domtar's Personal Care Division, which produces absorbent products for the adult and infant markets. Focus of work is in developing new or enhanced materials to improve products or reduce cost with potential application over a range of products. Prior to position in Personal Care Division, worked as Technology Innovations Specialist in Corporate Technology Group in Domtar operations center in Fort Mill, SC. Worked on papermaking process improvements to reduce operating costs and/or enhance product quality for uncoated free sheet paper across the company operating units. Particular focus is related to papermaking chemistry in the paper manufacturing process including wet end chemistry and surface functionalization chemistry. Prior to work in Fort Mill, worked for 10 years as Sr. Process Engineer in large uncoated free sheet paper mill in Ashdown, AR. Focused on support for paper machines, particularly on new grade and grade transfer development, technical support for resolution of quality complaints and process changes for cost reduction. Prior to work at the Ashdown, AR paper mill, worked for 10+ years at Westvaco research center in Covington, VA as Research Engineer to Sr Research Engineer to Research Co-ordinator. Focus of work was primarily on process improvements in paper making operations, particulary screening, forming, pressing and drying operations for reducing costs and improving product quality. Majority of time spent on working with coated bleached paperboard and coated fine paper mills. Specialties: papermaking chemistry, process engineering, paper quality attributes
