Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Review computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan operating changes. • Manage phone systems including PBX, wiring, hand-sets, Voice over IP (VOIP), configurations, upgrades, maintenance and vendor support • Assist with the support of university wide wireless technologies including Meru wireless points and controllers, assist with troubleshooting of connectivity issues. • Manage the testing and analysis of all network components including complex software, hardware and transmission systems. • Recommend corrective actions in order to ensure high quality, efficient network performance. • Assist with the development of project plans designed to implement new technology and enhance existing systems. • Assist with the Development and implementation of security policies and standards and ensure their conformance to University procedures and company objectives. • Confer with various vendors to evaluate hardware, software and telecommunications equipment and recommend procurement in coordination with department and University standards. • Maintain and upgrade hardware and software • Provide guidance to end-users for new products, upgrades or changes. • Document work thoroughly to capture technical problem, trouble shooting steps taken and resolution. • Demonstrate ability to navigate controversial issues with internal clients (executive members, project leaders and team members). • Independently manage work within established project objectives and coordinate decisions in the overall project-specific structure. • Coordinate with director to ensure all projects are executed according to University project methodology. • Troubleshoot network performance issues and help create and maintain and test disaster recovery plan. • Serve as point of contact for department in absence of the Network Services Director.
