Background

About Edward Smith

I am a motivated finance student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, leveraging a strong background in data analysis to pursue a career in the finance industry. My most recent role as a Remote Data Analyst Intern for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services allowed me to spearhead a 9-week project analyzing foster youth student outcomes. In this role, I synthesized raw data reports spanning 17 school years using Power Query and designed a comprehensive Tableau dashboard to present key trends in graduation rates and demographic shifts. A key achievement was presenting my actionable insights to senior leadership, including the Acting Commissioner and the Commissioner's Board. Academically, I am working towards my B.B.A. in Finance, expected in December 2026, and have earned a 3.857 GPA in recent, focused finance coursework. I hold an advanced certification in Microsoft Excel, and my current experience as a Remote Research Assistant with the Oregon Research Institute is further honing my skills in data collection and integrity. I am seeking to apply my skills in an internship role within data analysis, financial analysis, investment management, or wealth management. I am always open to networking and learning from professionals in the field.
