About Edward Spangler

In my 27 years of law enforcement I have had the pleasure of being assigned to a variety of specialized units. During my tenure as a police officer, I have gained valuable training and experience in areas such as patrol, narcotics and crime scene processing. I have been responsible for motivating, training, deploying and disciplining a platoon of forty officers. As the Chief of Police for Drexel University I was responsible for the day to day operations of a forty person police department and was responsible for creating policies and procedures for the department as well as overall responsibility for hiring, training, internal investigations and deployment. My philosophy toward law enforcement/security management is a combination of enforcement and engagement. Personnel must not simply enforce the applicable laws, policies and procedures but must also engage with the public they serve. Through positive interaction with the public, we can create stronger bonds that can only strengthen relationships and improve the community we serve.
