Background
About Edward Tate
Edward Tate goes by TaterTott when he is rapping. He began in 2004 with "off-the-top freestyle" rap, writing his first rap verse the following year. In 2006, TaterTott wrote his first song, titled "Heartbroken," which was about his heart problems, including the reason for his pacemaker. TaterTott had his first-ever stage performance in 2008 with an encouraging song,"Soldiers of the U.S. of A.""Soldiers" was written after an overnight Emergency Room visit, when he realized that he shouldn't be a typical rapper. TaterTott draws inspiration for songs from many aspects of life, ranging between losing his biological father to a drunken suicide on his birthday, being raised by an amazing mother and stepfather (Dad), becoming a young parent and marrying his high school sweetheart, to the internal struggles of switching his role from working dad to stay-at-home dad and the pitfalls and headstarts of his surroundings. He hopes his songs will help others through their own experiences, summarized in his song "Why I Do It." But Tater also has some rap battle-type songs, such as "I'm The Illest," his first song on digital music platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. Bits of Edward's life that he puts in his music are shown in a film titled "We Breathe Again," a documentary about intergenerational trauma, alcoholism, and suicide among Alaska Natives. After the debut of this film, one fan approached him and stated that his first CD helped her through a very tough year of her life. It is those moments that Tate makes music for. Edward "TaterTott" Tate is truly grateful for his family, his fans, and most of all the God he believes in for the opportunities to continue making inspirational rap and Hip-Hop music.
