Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Beard Construction, operating on the contractor side to support the commercial delivery of our projects. My responsibilities include procurement, managing subcontractor packages and variations, preparing valuations, monitoring costs, and ensuring contractual compliance — all while working closely with site teams to keep projects running smoothly and efficiently. Over 10 years of hands-on experience on construction sites, including general building, roofing, carpentry, groundwork, and most notably 7 years as a bricklayer, has allowed me to gain a valuable understanding of construction operations which I use when making commercial decisions. I hold a BA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of South Wales and an MSc in Construction Cost Management from the University of Reading. This combination of commercial and technical knowledge, along with my practical site experience, allows me to take a comprehensive approach to cost control and value management. Proficient in Bluebeam, I leverage digital tools to enhance accuracy and collaboration across project teams. I am currently progressing toward becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor, with a strong commitment to personal and professional growth. I strive to improve every day, aligning with Beard Construction’s ethos of being better tomorrow than we are today. It’s a mindset I bring to every project, every task, and every opportunity to learn.
