About Edwin Carter

Currently, I am taking a break from work to prioritise my health and well-being. During this time, I am diligently working towards building a healthier, stronger, and more resilient version of myself. Following this period of self-care, I have also had the opportunity to spend more time with my newborn son than I could have ever imagined. Additionally, I am considering transitioning away from IT analytical roles and exploring options for further tertiary education to facilitate this change. I eagerly anticipate the next challenge and opportunity that comes my way. Previously, I held the position of Product Specialist at Apple Inc, where I provided technical and administrative support at a senior level. My expertise primarily focused on Apple’s portable devices and their operating systems, including iOS, Watch OS, and Apple TV OS. I also offered remote support for Mac OS and the devices and accessories that it operates on. Furthermore, I am fully proficient in Mac OS Server and possess a particular passion for other UNIX-based or UNIX-like operating systems, such as Solaris and Linux. I am highly skilled in scripting and performing administrative tasks using shell programs and applications. Additionally, I provide support for Windows OSs to the extent that Windows interacts with Apple’s products. Lastly, my current role involves the configuration and troubleshooting of clients’ networks, ranging from simple router/modem setups to complex LANs and networks that require the deployment of multiple access points. I am also licensed to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and hold a license as a radio operator. This qualification enables me to safely and effectively execute drone-based missions by communicating with other pilots via VHF radio. As a contractor for IT 4 Retirees, I currently provide a wide range of IT instruction to both individual clients and large groups (up to 250 people). This experience has instilled in me confidence in my ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to individuals with limited or no knowledge of IT.
