About Edwin Kiyimba

As the Head of Innovation and Research at OpenStreetMap Uganda, I lead a team of software developers and researchers who create and implement innovative solutions for various social and environmental challenges using geospatial data and technologies. I have a strong background in software development, artificial intelligence, and DevOps, with multiple certificates and a nanodegree from Udacity and Udemy. I have also contributed to several open source projects and platforms, such as Leaflet.js, Django, FastAPI, and Power BI. In my previous roles, I have successfully developed and improved web applications using Python, TypeScript, Angular, and Flutter, and deployed them using Docker and Kubernetes. I have also worked on a GIS-enabled property registration system for efficient taxation at local government level, and a legacy code restructuring and performance optimization project. I am passionate about learning new technologies, solving complex problems, and making a positive impact on society. I am always looking for new opportunities to collaborate with other professionals, share my knowledge and skills, and grow as a leader and innovator.
