About Edwin Maldonado

As a young boy growing up in Plainfield, New Jersey, I always had a passion for becoming a police officer and helping my community be a safer and more enjoyable place to live. I joined the Police Explorers at the age of 14 and did not look back. I was fortunate to have been able to serve as a Patrolman and now a Detective in my own hometown and my county. Now, I am looking to take the skills I developed and honed throughout my law enforcement career and embark on a new, and challenging career in corporate security management and/or loss prevention. I am eager to learn and be a mentor, imparting my knowledge and experience to my colleagues in the private sector. I seek to bring my strong customer/client relations skills utilized as a successful Real Estate Agent, management skills conducting investigations, and decision-making abilities in law enforcement to solve the problems and satisfy the needs of my next employer. Mentoring and training plays a big role in my giving to others. I have conducted hundreds of classes teaching “Law Enforcement Encounters with the Hispanic Community” This training played a significant role improving community relations between the Hispanic community and the Plainfield Police Department. Having strong communication skills with all segments of society enhanced my ability to impart “Hostage Negotiation” training to police recruits. I was honored and privileged to have been appointed by the Plainfield Mayor as Commissioner for the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority (PUMA) between This opportunity broadened my public service experience and provided an opportunity to demonstrate my leadership abilities.
